Make an Appointment -

Use the location dropdown to specify where the appointment will take place. Selecting a different location will reload the appointment dates and times that are available to be booked.
Make an appointment in 3 steps. Step 1: Select a staff member. Step 2: Select an available date. Step 3: Select an available timeslot.

HGSE Communications Lab (CommLab)

Appointments available during fall and spring only

The sign up for appointments is available two weeks in advance of the appointment date. Students can schedule a 30-minute one-on-one or a 60-minute small group (2-4 people) appointment once per week.  Doctoral students (EdLD, EdD, and PhD) who want to practice their defense can sign up for a 60-minute slot.

CommLab One-On-One Appointments:

  • Thirty-minute virtual appointment
  • Practice oral presentations
  • Storyboard and develop a slide presentation
  • Create an “elevator pitch” 
  • Organize and develop a conference poster 
  • Assistance with other mixed-media communication  

Small Group Appointments:

  • One-hour virtual appointment for groups of 2-4 students
  • Practice small group oral presentations 
  • Storyboard and develop a slide presentation 

Dissertations and Capstone Defense Appointments:

  • One-hour virtual appointment  
  • Practice oral defense
  • Receive feedback on a slide presentation, including structure, order, and design 
  • Tips for using visuals to communicate information and results
