Opening Reception for "Edward Gorey: The Gloomy Gallery"

Please join us in the gloomiest of galleries to celebrate the opening of our centennial exhibition on the work of Edward St. John Gorey (1925–2000). The show invites visitors to step in to Gorey's mind and wander among his iconic characters, creatures, spaces and objects. The manuscripts, drawings, and published works on view are drawn from across Houghton's deep Gorey holdings. Meet the curators and be among the first to view a dazzling new addition to the collection: more than a dozen original drawings made by Gorey for his Eliot House roommate, Tony Smith. Beverages and hors d'oeuvres will be provided. No need to register! If you registered or put yourself on the wait list earlier, consider yourself in.
