In a brief conversation based on his new biography, Harvard Egyptologist Peter Der Manuelian will discuss the life and work of America’s greatest Egyptian archaeologist, George Reisner (1867–1942). Living most of his life at “Harvard Camp” just behind the famous Giza Pyramids, Reisner’s 43 years of breathtakingly successful HU–MFA Expedition seasons at 23 different archaeological sites in Egypt and Sudan included pyramids, colossal statues, gold jewelry, decorated tomb chapels, temples, settlements, fortresses, ceramics, furniture, stone vessels, and hieroglyphic inscriptions everywhere.

Dr. Peter Der Manuelian is Barbara Bell Professor of Egyptology in the Departments of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations and Anthropology at Harvard University and Director of the Harvard Museum of the Ancient Near East.
