ReCAP Coordinated Collecting Forum Announcement

The ReCAP Collections Committee invites collection development librarians, selectors, and other interested library staff to attend a ReCAP Coordinated Collecting Forum on October 21st from 12:30 to 2:00 PM (ET) via Zoom.

What does it take to begin collecting collaboratively? At the Forum, we will discuss the ways that ReCAP libraries have been working to coordinate purchases in several collecting areas over the past five years. The success of these programs has led the partners to think about the shared collection as one great collection available to all ReCAP libraries.

Topics will include:

• The value of coordinated collecting for ReCAP libraries
• The legal and organizational structure of the agreements
• An overview of the process for creating and implementing agreements
• What does it take to begin a new coordinated collection?
• Ongoing challenges and areas for improvement
