Securely Managing and Publishing Sensitive Data

Wednesday, November 15, 2023, 12:00pm - 1:00pm
Online, Open to the public, Workshop,

Many funding agencies and publishers require researchers to publicly share data from their completed projects. If your research involves human participants, this requirement can be challenging. How do you manage and protect sensitive data? Can you responsibly share your data while protecting the rights of your research participants?

This webinar will review utilizing Harvard Dataverse and Qualitative Data Repository for appropriate data sharing. We will demonstrate how the deposit process works and provide examples of nuanced data sharing possibilities, including of sensitive data, securely shared under varying levels of access control.

You will gain a better understanding of data sharing practices in the social and health sciences, and of simple steps you can take to manage research materials during the course of a project.

Instructors: Katie Mika, Data Services Librarian, Harvard Library
Dessi Kirilova, Senior Curation Specialist, Qualitative Data Repository
