Scholarly Communication Discussion Group: OA Policies 15th Anniversary Celebration
The Scholarly Communication Discussion Group is delighted to invite all members of the Harvard Library community to join us for our September discussion celebrating the 15th anniversary of the FAS and HLS Open Access Policies. Joining us will be Maya Bergamasco, Faculty Research & Scholarly Support Librarian at Harvard Law School Library, and Peter Suber, Senior Advisor on Open Access at Harvard Library.
About the talk
The session aims to highlight Harvard’s OA Policies' scope, importance, and alignment with Harvard's academic mission. Peter and Maya will address the rationale for the school-level policies, common faculty concerns, successes, and future considerations. We will also explore comparisons between the license granted to Harvard under the OA Policies and the Creative Commons suite of open licenses; the role of waivers; and implications of evolving federal guidelines with regard to the open sharing of research outputs.
We hope the discussion will shed light on how the OA Policies contribute to Harvard's broader research strategy, demonstrating Harvard Library’s and the University’s commitment to knowledge dissemination and societal impact.
