THE ENORMOUS CHORUS: An Evening of Radical Harmonies & Collective Soundings
The Woodberry Poetry Room invites you to join us on Election Eve for a generative evening of collaborative soundings and collective listening, featuring a series of sonic exercises (inspired by Pauline Oliveros & Bobby McFerrin) that celebrate the relationship between freedom, fellowship, creativity, harmony, courage, utterance and change.
Led by Boston-based vocalist Erin Hogan, and co-sponsored with her arts and mindfulness organization K-I-N-D-R-E-D, the evening will culminate in the learning of a few peace anthems (e.g. "We Shall Overcome" and "Hymn to Nations"), which we will sing through the streets of Cambridge as we depart.
The Enormous Chorus is open to everyone: no singing experience is required!
As an additional offering, between 5:30-6:00pm in the Lamont Library lobby: Houghton's Curator of Printing & Graphic Arts Molly Schwartzburg will be on hand with a Chandler & Price Pilot Press to give everyone the unique experience (and tangible pleasure) of printing out their very own copy of one of the chants we will be singing. Come one, come all!
LOCATION: Woodberry Poetry Room, Lamont Library, Room 330,
11 Quincy Street, Harvard University. Free and open to the public.
