Exploring Special Collections and Archives
This session is all about getting comfortable exploring the kinds of primary source material you can discover in archives and special collections, such as manuscripts, rare books, photographs, and personal papers. You will learn to assess and safely handle fragile materials and to understand why catalogs and finding aids may not describe materials as you expect. You will also get hands-on practice with the research and exploration possibilities of special collections.
This is an Unabridged “Bookends” workshop. Bookends workshops are designed for graduate students, with topics that complement Unabridged’s January intensive. More program details on our website
