AI Advisors Discussion Group: AI-Assisted Sheet Music Cataloging Workflow Demo & Discussion

Wednesday, March 4, 2026, 11:00am - 12:00pm
Harvard ID required, Discussion Group,

This session will explore the AI-assisted workflow developed for the 2025 AOK grant, “Cataloging Sheet Music the AI Way.” Presenters will demonstrate the workflow, discuss what material attributes make good candidates for AI support, and share which prompt approaches mattered most to the outputs (including what didn’t work). We’ll build in time throughout for questions and discussion. We’ll also cover technical requirements and human supports, how this workflow might translate to other resource types, and other practical considerations.

Interactive Portion: If you’d like to follow along during the hands-on portion, feel free to bring a high-ish resolution image with bibliographic data to try a few prompts with the group.

Note: You’ll need access to either the Harvard AI Sandbox or a Harvard University ChatGPT account for this portion.

Presenters:

  • Andrea Cawelti, Ward Music Cataloger, Houghton Library

  • Betts Coup, Head of Archival Operations, Technical Services for Archives and Special Collections

  • Lilli Keaney, Harrison D. Horblit Photograph Librarian, Technical Services for Archives and Special Collections

  • Marc McGee, Geospatial Metadata Librarian, ITS
