Book of the Dead in 3D

Join Rita Lucarelli, Associate Professor of Egyptology (University of California, Berkeley), as she guides participants through a collection of 3D scans representing ancient Egyptian coffins, each inscribed with spells designed “to resurrect the deceased and to guide them safely through the next world.”

This immersive “Book of the Dead in 3D” experience will take place in a virtual recreation of Widener Library’s historical Loker Reading Room, and will also be broadcast in-person in Lamont Forum Room. A small number of Quest headsets will be available at the Cabot Library Discovery Bar for joining the event in VR.

When registering, choose 'in person' if you wish to view the presentation from Lamont Forum Room or 'online' if you are joining from your home computer. If you're interested in using one of the Quest headsets in Cabot, please email brian_leach@harvard.edu.
