Wednesday, September 2, 2026, 10:00am - 11:00am
Lamont Library - Media Lab Annex (Room #310)
Harvard ID required, Workshop,

Registration is required. There are 10 seats available.

In this 1 hour workshop you will gain comfort and familiarity with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software and data discovery approaches. In this session, we will thoughtfully walk through how to find spatial data for digital mapping. We will cover how to evaluate data sources, understand data formats, and open files in GIS software. Finally, we will symbolize a map by number and category. The topic of the session is mapping health determinants based on environmental factors. All are welcome. No GIS experience is required for this workshop, and computers are provided in the computer lab. This session is a great way to become acquainted with library resources for geospatial mapping and data support, and get some hands-on practice.
