Introduction by Fanny Howe. The Poetry Room is honored to inaugurate our Fall 2021 season with a dynamic reading by two poets whose “susurrant usage” and “hypnotic sonar” have restored to the printed page sound’s innate multi-directionality, fecundity, and illimitation. Please join us in welcoming Will Alexander (author of Refractive Africa, New Directions, 2021) and Nathaniel Mackey (author of Double Trio, New Directions,  2020) to our virtual podium.

The first 10 minutes of our Zoom events feature a warm and welcoming Community Gathering, during which we welcome you to unmute your mics and commune with poets, scholars,  and readers from around the world. Our virtual programs close with an Outro tune selected by the authors: we encourage you to dance and groove with the music, and then click “Leave Meeting” at your leisure.
