Wide-open research assignments -- the “write on anything related to course themes” variety — are common in college and they can be stressful. Sometimes you’re asked to lock into a semester-long project before you’ve learned enough to feel confident about your choice. This workshop will help you cope.

You’ll learn to take the long view of a syllabus and to mine course materials for topic inspiration and research leads. We’ll suggest ways to keep track of ideas that catch your attention. And we’ll consider two all important questions for the busy Harvard student: How can you explore without getting overwhelmed? And how should you “read smart” when you’ve got a lot to read?

Workshop will be held in Widener Library Room 240 (at the back of the Atkins Reference Room on Level 2).
