Join us for an introduction to Houghton Library, Harvard’s primary rare book and manuscript library. The tour includes visits to our exhibition spaces and display rooms dedicated to the English writer Samuel Johnson and his circle, Romantic poet John Keats, American poets Emily Dickinson and Amy Lowell, as well as the library of Harvard collector William King Richardson. A history of the building and an overview of services available to library patrons will also be provided.
- Tours are offered every Friday at 2 PM, except University holidays.
- Tours are open to the public. No registration is required.
- Tours begin in the Edison and Newman Room and last approximately one hour.
Visitors interested in visiting the Emily Dickinson Room are strongly encouraged to join one of the Friday afternoon tours. If you are unable to make one of the tours, please reach out to houghton_library@harvard.edu to schedule a separate visit and we will do our best to accommodate your request.
