SUMMARY:Money Matters in Archives & Special Collections: Managing Budgets
DESCRIPTION:Fellows in Rare Book School's Andrew W. Mellon Fellowship for 
 Diversity\, Inclusion & Cultural Heritage present "Money Matters in 
 Archives and Special Collections\," a two-part\, virtual workshop series on 
 salary negotiation and managing budgets.\n\nThe workshops are open to all 
 but will be aimed at BIPOC library & archives professionals and students\, 
 providing them with tools to navigate financial management in their 
 institutions and to advocate for themselves & their collections. Attendees 
 will be entered into a raffle to win $50 gift cards to 
 Bookshop.org.\n\n\nIn this workshop\, Naomi Nelson will give attendees 
 tools and tips for understanding and navigating budgets in institutional 
 special collections. The workshop will consist of a brief presentation with 
 ample time for Q&A and an activity in small breakout groups. Attendees 
 should be prepared to actively participate.\n\nNaomi Nelson is Associate 
 University Librarian and Director of the David M. Rubenstein Rare Book & 
 Manuscript Library at Duke University. She came to Duke from Emory 
 University’s Manuscript\, Archives\, and Rare Book Library\, where she 
 held a variety of positions over twenty years. Her interests include 
 managing and providing access to born-digital materials\, exploring the new 
 avenues for humanities research\, and women’s history. She received an 
 M.L.S. from the University of Pittsburgh and a Ph.D. in American History 
 from Emory University.\n\n\nIf you have any questions about this event\,
