SUMMARY:THE ENORMOUS CHORUS: Peace-Caroling on MLK Day
DESCRIPTION:The Woodberry Poetry Room and Kindred invite you to join us for
a generative evening of peace-caroling in Harvard Square. The event will
feature an opening invocation by Christina Davis\, brief readings from the
works of Dr. Martin Luther King\, Jr.\, and a jubilant introduction to
collaborative sounding & collective listening led by Boston vocalist (and
force for the good) Erin Shea Hogan.\n\nFounded in November 2024\, The
Enormous Chorus offers poets\, activists\, artists\, members of the general
public (and singers and non-singers alike) the chance to come together to
learn a range of powerful\, iconic songs of peace and justice (e.g. "We
 Shall Overcome\," "Ain't Gonna Study War No More\," "If I Had a Hammer\,"
and "Imagine") and to spread goodwill by peace-caroling through the streets
of Harvard Square.\n\nA printout of lyrics will be provided to all
participants. We also encourage attendees to bring 10-15 copies of any
songs from your spiritual\, political or cultural traditions that you would
like to share with your fellow choristers.\n\nLocation: Friends
 Meetinghouse\, 5 Longfellow Park\, Cambridge.\n\nWe will gather indoors to
learn the songs in the warm and welcoming meetinghouse. If it is
particularly cold\, we will host the bulk of the event indoors.
Peace-caroling will proceed from there (down Brattle Street) to Harvard
Square. The event will end near the Harvard Square T stop.\n\nSponsors: The
Enormous Chorus is sponsored by the Poetry Room/Harvard University\, in
partnership with Kindred. With special thanks to the Friends Meeting at
Cambridge\, for so generously making their space available for this event.
\n\n \n\nAdditional Info: Free and open to all. No singing experience (or
RSVP) is required. If you have additional questions\, we welcome you to
contact the organizer Christina Davis (davis2@fas.harvard.edu) and musical
 director Erin Hogan (erinsheahogan@gmail.com). \n\n \n\nClick here\, for a
downloadable/sharable flier. Click here to access a Poetry Room/Spotify
playlist that features a range of related songs.\n\n\n \n \n\n\n\n
