Online, Library staff only, Enrichment Activity > Workshop,
Registration has closed.

Fellows in Rare Book School's Andrew W. Mellon Fellowship for Diversity, Inclusion & Cultural Heritage present "Money Matters in Archives and Special Collections," a two-part, virtual workshop series on salary negotiation and managing budgets.

The workshops are open to all but will be aimed at BIPOC library & archives professionals and students, providing them with tools to navigate financial management in their institutions and to advocate for themselves & their collections. Attendees will be entered into a raffle to win $50 gift cards to Bookshop.org.

In this workshop, Naomi Nelson will give attendees tools and tips for understanding and navigating budgets in institutional special collections. The workshop will consist of a brief presentation with ample time for Q&A and an activity in small breakout groups. Attendees should be prepared to actively participate.

Naomi Nelson is Associate University Librarian and Director of the David M. Rubenstein Rare Book & Manuscript Library at Duke University. She came to Duke from Emory University’s Manuscript, Archives, and Rare Book Library, where she held a variety of positions over twenty years. Her interests include managing and providing access to born-digital materials, exploring the new avenues for humanities research, and women’s history. She received an M.L.S. from the University of Pittsburgh and a Ph.D. in American History from Emory University.
